Moving can be hectic and frustrating, but with a little planning and advance preparation, you can help make it a smoother process.
Always be sure to pack and keep in your immediate possession valuable such as jewelry, small collectibles, and all forms of money. Clearly label all boxes for proper placement at your new location. Also, have a general idea where you would like the movers to place furniture and appliances. Inform your movers ahead of time of any specific instructions for unloading at your new home.
Create a file for all pertinent papers and receipts. Include your homeowner's insurance, your children's school records, health and auto insurance, wills, deeds and other important information. Keep the file accessible to you and your family only.
Lastly, take a final look around to be sure you don't forget anything. Give the movers an emergency number where they can reach you during the move.
Most importantly, relax. Let the movers do the work.
